I just got a phone call from Head Start—both of my baby boys, Evan and Cory, were accepted this year! That means all three of my kids will be starting school next month. I’m going to be childless during the weekdays! When she told me, I cried—I can’t believe my boys are old enough to be gone all day at school. Andy starts 1st grade on August 18th, and Head Start will probably start the following Monday.
I just can’t believe it. It’s such a shock. I had doubts that Evan would get in, and I was fairly certain Cory wouldn’t. Head Start usually has far more applicants than they can accept. But both of them? Wow! It’s such an incredible thing. Evan can be stubborn and refuses to learn at home, and Cory is following in his footsteps. With this year’s admission, Cory is automatically enrolled for next year too. Evan will move on to Kindergarten next year (if he learns like he should), and Cory will have a second year in Head Start until he’s ready for Kindergarten as well.

Since this is a flashback post (added in 2026), I went ahead and added their first day photo.

This is a true account written in my own words during the time it happened. I’ve lightly edited it for clarity in the present day (2026), with minimal exclusions, while keeping the original voice and meaning intact.

And what do you have to say about that?
