A Little Update on Head Start

Evan and Cory attend the same class, and so their conferences were at the same time.

Evan is quite an influential boy, it seems. His teachers say he’s very much a leader in the classroom, and that if he his having an off day, the whole class seems to be off track. Evan knows nearly his whole alphabet, and can finally count higher than 3… he is cutting, drawing, coloring, playing, listening, and doing overall very well in his class. And all this progress just from 2 months of Head Start!

Cory, on the other hand, is not quite so motivated. He refuses to do most of the activities the classroom participates in, and he is overall just being lazy. He IS finally about 90% potty trained, so that is a HUGE plus for us. NO MORE DIAPERS!!!! Phew, its been 6 1/2 years since I started with diapers when Andy was born. This is the first time since then that we have been completely without diapers in the house. We don’t have to deal with the smell of them in the trash anymore, we don’t have to deal with poopy butts, we don’t have to deal with ANY of it…. but I do have to deal with bigger messes in the bathroom. Thankfully, I have my own bathroom and the boys have their own.

Ludo is fitting it quite well. He is about 75% crate trained and about the same with potty training… which is quite impressive for an 8-week old puppy. He is very in tune with me. I haven’t taken him out much since we got him 2 weeks ago, and today I took him to visit a friend of mine who has 3 kids living in her home… as well as my 3 kids coming with me. There were a total of 9 people in their house at any given moment, and Ludo was very friendly to everyone. When he got tired, he came and laid either on my feet or under my legs by the couch. He was very well-behaved and waited to potty until we left (and we spent about 90 minutes over there). Its good that he’s turning out to be so great so far, because before we got him I sat down with all 3 boys and made an agreement. We agreed that no matter what, even if Ludo turned out to be a holy terror, he would be ours forever… until the end of his life when he dies from old age. I just hope I didn’t jinx myself for situations that may come.

This is a true account written in my own words during the time it happened. I’ve lightly edited it for clarity in the present day (2026), with minimal exclusions, while keeping the original voice and meaning intact.

And what do you have to say about that?
